Computer Arts are the dominant mediums for art in the 21st century that include 3D animation, digital design, digital sound, video games and interactive media. If you are interested in a career in this exciting and cutting edge field then you will find that the BFA in Computer Arts at the Brooklyn campus is a highly competitive and specialized degree in the field.

Degree Requirements
The 128-credit B.F.A. in Computer Art provides students with a specialized and concentrated curriculum with multiple concentrations. State-of-the-arts studios and facilities offer students hands-on learning experience with the latest technologies in the field, from networked multiplatform computer labs to full 5.1 Surround Sound recording studios, TV studios, video editing bays, Photo labs and large format printing.

The B.F.A offers a high number of studio credits in Computer Art, designed to prepare students for the competitive job market in the field while they develop their creative expression, portfolio and reel.


About the Field of Computer Arts
The field of Computer Art is currently one of the most important creative disciplines for both the Applied Arts and the Fine Arts. Most creative mediums and media are currently mediated by computer technology at some point in the process of production. Some areas such as video games and 3D animation are entirely computer-based, while other areas such as Digital Photo and Digital Sound present a hybrid approach.

The field of Conputer Art itself provides a diverse array of careers for young artists in print design, illustration, animation, CG for film and video, Special Effects, video games, digital sound design, music production and sound for picture, and web design.


Admissions Requirements
To be admitted to this program you must:

  • Have a minimum overall grade-point high school average of 75% or higher
  • Submit a high school transcript
  • Transfer students must present an overall grade-point average of 2.0
  • Submit a completed application to the Office of Admissions (see Submitting an Application for Admission)
  • Portfolio, Reel or URL for a website with samples of creative work.

Program Requirements
Continued enrollment in this program is contingent upon:

  • Maintaining an overall grade-point average of 2.0
  • Maintaining a grade-point average of 2.0 in the concentration
